Hands and Knees – Balance

Purpose:

To improve your balance and/or to strengthen your arms and legs.

Position:

Get on your hands and knees on a firm surface.

Action:

Raise one arm and your opposite leg slowly. Try to hold your balance. Return to starting position.

Repeat with the opposite arm and leg.

Hands and Knees weight shifting

Purpose:

To strengthen arms and legs to improve balance and to promote return.

Position:

Get on your hands and knees your arms as strengthen as possible. Knees should be 6 inches apart.

Action:

  • Gently rock forward and backward.

  • Rock side to side.

  • Have someone gently push you in different directions while you attempt to maintain your balance
